New group type - Sponsorship Groups

Identity and Access Management is introducing a new group type - Sponsorship Groups. The Sponsorship Group type will increase a team’s visibility into the team’s sponsored guest accounts. The shared oversight of a team’s guest accounts reduces individual workload and enhances overall efficiency of managing guest accounts.

Teams may set up a Sponsorship Group by creating an ad hoc group in Group Manager and clicking on the “Request Sponsorship Group Promotion” button. Fill out the request form providing additional information about the group, including an appropriate fund code to be used for any provisioned resources that carry an additional cost associated with guest accounts.

Group Manager Support Groups will no longer be used for supporting guest accounts, but will still be required for requesting non-person test and service accounts. Sponsorship Group designation have been added to Support Groupswho are sponsoring guests and the Support Group designation will be removed from groups created for the sole purpose of sponsoring guests.
